

Kay was born in Marlin, Texas to James Kirwin Harter and Lilias Mae Thompson Harter on August 24, 1941. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Marlin, Texas. She attended the public schools in Marlin and went on to obtain a degree from Sam Houston state in Huntsville, Texas. Kay married Carl Evans on November 9, 1962. She was employed by Exxon Company USA in Houston for nineteen years, and in 1977, joined her husband Carl as co-founder of Texas Pneumatic Tools, Inc.
Kay is survived by her husband, Carl Wayne Evans, niece, Linda Kay Parma and her husband, Craig Parma, along with their daughter, Lauren Ann Parma. Kay was an inspiration to her many cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. She valued her lifelong friendships, most of them, which she maintained since childhood. The employees of Texas Pneumatic will also miss her, where she served as the matriarch to the company family.
Kay will be remembered as a gracious, fun, and loving person who made friends everywhere she went. Her extraordinary strength and endurance showed as a beacon of light to others, through her charity, graciousness, and thoughtfulness. Her faith and love in God, just like her character, was larger than life.
After a long term illness, she passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, July 26th.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin, Texas. The service will take place Wednesday, July 30th at 10:00 am at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Marlin, Texas. Interment will follow afterwards at Waite Cemetery in Reagan, Texas.
