

Lee H. Reed, Jr., age 98, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016. Graveside service and interment will be Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 1:00 pm held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Texas with Pastor Doug Howell officiating.
Lee has lived in Houston and Baytown, Texas since retiring from Exxon Co. U.S.A. October 1, 1982. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Martha Lochridge Reed. Lee was born in Marlin, Texas on August 19, 1917 and was a graduate of Marlin High School, receiving his BS Degree from Sam Houston State University. He served in the Navy during World War II receiving his Midshipman training at the University Of Notre Dame. Lee served aboard the USS Schley, a converted WWI Destroyer and the USS Blue Ridge, command ship of the Seventh Amphibious Force in the Pacific Theater. He saw action in the landing at Leyte Gulf and Lingayen Gulf in the Philippine Islands. He also served as a Separation Officer at the Naval Separation Center at Camp Wallace in Hitchcock, Texas. After the war Lee went to work for Humble Oil and Refining Company in Tomball, Texas and was later transferred to Humble’s office in Los Angeles, California. Lee worked as an accountant in Humble’s Tomball District Office and Humble/Exxon’s California Offices before being transferred back to Exxon’s Houston Office prior to retirement.
Lee is survived by daughters; Sarah Katherine and husband, Terry Wahl of Baytown, Texas and Elizabeth Reed of Baytown, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Wahl and wife, Shelly of Spring Branch, Texas, Amy Katherine Dunagan and husband, Dan Dunagan, of Orlando, Florida and Amanda Schonfeld and husband, Klaus Schonfeld of San Antonio, Texas; great-grandchildren Hannah Weaver, Allison Weaver, Nathan Weaver, Keira Schonfeld and Meghan Schonfeld, and sister Joyce Reed Parrott of Beaumont, and numerous nieces and nephews.
