Tom Garcia Jr.

Tom Garcia, Jr. 59 of Marlin entered into rest Monday, May 21, 2012. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marlin with Rev. Walter Dhanwar officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Adams Funeral Home with Deacon Butch Prewitt officiating. Visitation with family will be before and after the Rosary.

Tom was born September 25, 1952 in Marlin to Tomas and Pauline Pecina Garcia. He graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BA in Psychology. Tom loved to Bar-B-Que and loved his Cowboy’s, win or lose. He loved to fish and go hog hunting when he could. As a young man he worked with his father at Roppolo’s Furniture, he also worked at the Marlin PD, Elmwood Nursing Home and The Texas Department of Health. In 1987 his greatest job came to be, he was able to stay home and care for his girls and parents. His girls were his greatest joy, no Daddy could have been more proud of his children. He loved spending time with his family especially his granddaughter Tayvin or as he affectionally called her, Baby Love. Tom fought a hard battle since he got sick in 2009 but, with the help and love of his children, Dr. Tayvin and Nurse Granny (his wife) Grandpa kept up a good fight for his life. Tom will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

On December 10, 1977 Tom married his soul mate, Elizabeth Pavelka. They loved each other dearly for 33 years. They were together always. They loved to go out and just ride around not going anywhere special, just being together, talking. Sometimes they would look for hogs or go fishing. Well, him fishing and his “babe” walking around waiting for the dumb fish to bite.

Tom’s faith was strong, praying the Rosary on the way to his doctor visits. St. Jude was his patron Saint.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (Liz) Garcia; daughters, Suzy Kluck and husband Tash; Maggie Garcia and fiance’ Ray Bruner; granddaughter, Tayvin (Baby Love) Kluck; brother, Jessie Garcia and wife Charlotte; sisters, Mary Rodriguez and husband Raymond; Gloria Roriguez and husband Roy; Molly Downes and husband David; Dolores Moreno and husband Lucio.

Pallbearers will be Devin Garcia, Dowell Downes, Robert Rodriguez, Raymond Rodriguez, Roy Rodriguez, and Paul Rodriguez.
