

Alejandro Laurel Catubig entered peacefully into heaven on Saturday, December 13, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife Rosie Ramos Catubig of 49 years. A loving father of Prudencio Salvador Catubig of Galveston, TX, Nina Catubig Nolan (John Stephen Nolan) of Cambridge, MA and Alejandro Louis Catubig, Jr. of New York City, NY.
A proud grandfather of Rosie Catubig Nolan, Alex Catubig Nolan and Emily Jane Catubig Nolan.
Son of the late Victorina Laurel Catubig and Judge, Prudencio S. Catubig. Brother of Eudocia Catubig, Paciencia Catubig Moreno, and Flotilda Catubig, MD. Preceded in death by his sisters Telma Catubig Pastoral, Flora Catubig, Teresita Catubig and Bona Catubig Meneses. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
As a teenager,“Alex” worked under General Douglas MacArthur as a civilian informant for his underground guerrilla movement during World War II. He graduated from Manuel L. Quezon School of Law with a Bachelor of Laws Degree in Manila, Philippines. He started to work at the Foreign Service of the Philippines under General Carlos P. Romulo, then the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. He retired as a Diplomatic Officer after serving for over 35 years.
Upon retirement, he enjoyed attending his Church, St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Harvey, attending the Estelle Senior Center in Marrero, loved to travel, gardening, singing, used to play the violin, piano, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero,LA.
