Bradley Edward McDowell, age 44, finally at peace and rest went to be with his Savior on October 14, 2021. He fought long and hard but lost his battle with mental illness and addiction. In his early years Bradley enjoyed many outdoor activities: swimming, camping, canoeing, biking and sports with his family and friends. Later his struggles limited his activities but did not deter his love and compassion for others. He gave freely from a large and loving heart.
Please hold Bradley close in your heart and mind. Don’t look at the mentally ill or addict with contempt as if they are worthless or inferior. They fight every hour of every day to overcome diseases they didn’t choose. Encourage those fighting these struggles with love and compassion. You never know when your caring words or just a smile can change someone’s life.
Bradley was born to Sharon Authement McDowell and the late Anthony Edward McDowell. Brother to Melissa Sue McDowell (Kevin) and Joseph Evans McDowell. Uncle to Alysse McDowell-Deffes, Reilly Lomax, Jacob Wolfe and Logan McDowell. Nephew to Karen Chatelain (Bruce), Susan Guiher (John), Wyatt Authement (Jennifer), Calvin Authement (Heidi), and “crazy” Aunt Sharon who never judged him and always supported him with love and advice. Bradley will be missed by his best furry friend, Bear, whom he loved dearly and who gave him much happiness and unwavering companionship.
Soar up in Heaven my son, healed, delivered and finally able to be truly happy.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on October 25, 2021 in the chapel of Westside/ Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana.
