Edward Joseph Rome passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 at the age of 83. He was the beloved husband of Gail B. Rome for over 61 years. Father of Barry M. Rome (EmmaLee) and Scott A. Rome (Dawn). Grandfather of Barry Rome Jr. and Evan Rome. Great grandfather of Delilah and Nolan. Son of the late Lawrence and Carrie Rome. He lived his life serving others, as a long time employee of Jefferson Parish Public Works Department, a volunteer at various senior centers around the parish, and cutting his neighbor’s grass when they were not expecting it. He served as King Creole Gumbo XXXIII in 2006. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps Reserve and the US Army.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and continue on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the Mass.
