Garnette Hicks Finn

Garnette Hicks Finn passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the age of 84. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. “Buddy” Finn for 55 years. Mother of Earlene Goens. Step Mother and mother-in-law of Gail Scaffidi (Joseph) and Elizabeth “Betty” Kilian (the late Edward.) Sister and sister-in-law of Reba H. Bryant (the late Walter), Dr. Virginia “Jean” Farrar (Retired Judge Sidney C. Farrar, Jr.) , and Harley Earl Hicks (Evelyn). Grandmother of Cindy Omes , Sherrie Bach , Samuel Scaffidi, Joseph Coker , Joseph Scaffidi, Gina Engel , Paul Scaffidi , Mary Chifici and Edward “Trey” Kilian. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren, 6 great, great grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvia S. Hicks and Romie Earl Hicks; her sister Ruth West and a daughter Phyllis Ann Finn.

Born in Milo, West Virginia Resident of Terrytown, Louisiana for the past 43 years.

She was an active parishioner of Christ the King as a member of the Holy Name Society, the St. Vincent DePaul Society and an auxiliary member of the Knights of Columbus . She was also a member of the Jefferson Golden Age Club in Terrytown. She was a retired bookkeeper as she worked for Leaman & Reynolds Insurance Company and Eagan Insurance Agency.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday September 10, 2011 at 11:00am at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, La. on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Visitation will begin at 8:30 AM. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Christ the King.
