Kermit Ernest Helmer Sr.

Kermit Ernest Helmer, Sr., age 92, of Lafitte, Louisiana passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late Ernest and Olivia Helmer. Loving husband of Elizabeth Jane Rojas Helmer for 69 years. Devoted father of Lonnie Helmer (Edward Savoie) and Kermit E. Helmer, Jr. (Kathryn Palmer). Grandfather of Dallen Helmer (Aleyna). Step Grandfather of Haylee Morse (Corey). Brother of the late Elmore Helmer and Elnora "Sis" Helmer Gibbs. Kermit is also survived by other relatives and many friends who will miss him dearly.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Heart of Hospice and Ochsner Foundation Hospital for their care and compassion during Kermit's time of need. A special thanks to the Eschete family for their friendship and support over the last few years, as well as members of the Barataria Baptist Church family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Barataria Baptist Church, 2596 Jean Lafitte Boulevard in Lafitte, Louisiana. The Visitation will begin at 9:00AM and continue until the Service time. Burial will follow the Service at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana.

Family and friends are invited to attend the repast at Barataria Baptist Church after the Burial.
