Lionel David Russell passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the age of 75. He was the beloved husband of Linda Alba Russell. He was the father of Theresa “Terri” Matherne (Kenny), Scott Russell, and the late Lonnie Russell. Grandfather of Seth Matherne, Peyton Matherne, and Bryce Russell, as well as honorary grandfather of Jacob and Sydni Russell. Son of the late Alma and Henry Russell. Brother of Clara Leblanc (the late Mickey), Wayne Russell, Alvin Russell, and Gene Russell (Dianne) , as well as the late Ernest Russell (Annalee), Henry Russell (Millie), Carmel Breaux, and Carole Fortmayer Haynes, as well as brother-in-law of the late Becky Russell and Marlene Rausch (Moe). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was a true outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, traveling, and most of all, his family.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
