Malcolm “Mack” James Babin, Jr. met his eternal peace on May 1, 2025 at age 73, surrounded by loving family, after nearly a decade of close calls and a variety of cardiac complications. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 42 years, Judith Esteve Babin, whose unwavering devotion kept her by his side until the end. Also survived by his daughter Jessica Lauren, his son Malcolm James Babin, III (Lisa), his two grandsons Evan Brandon and Owen Luke McNeil, his beloved canine companion Kya, his nephews Trey Babin and Saxon Babin, his niece Rachel Dufrene, and his two brothers Terrance Babin and Blair Babin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia Montecino and Malcolm Babin, Sr and nephew, Brandon Babin.
Mack was a man who wore many hats, both literally and figuratively. He was a cement truck driver for Carlos Ditta for many years, worked on a tugboat for a time, coached little league for many of his son’s teams, and was overall someone who knew a little bit about a lot of things. He was a firm believer in kindness, always advocating for people to treat others as they wished to be treated. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Mack was also a staunch advocate for never rushing; believing that all things happened in their due time. He would encourage all to “slow down and enjoy life”.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his memory at a Celebration of Life at God’s House Church, 7301 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA 70072 on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to the Louisiana SPCA.
