Merlin Charles Kaupp Jr.

Merlin Charles Kaupp, Jr. passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 5:00 PM surrounded by his loving family at the age of 75. He was born on December 10, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Merlin and Nancy Lavite Kaupp. Devoted husband to the late Ellen Rome Kaupp. Loving father of Scott Kaupp (Terri), Trisha Gautreau (Donald), Heather Fielder (Russ) and step father to the late Michael Lambert. Proud grandfather of Emily Martinez-Kaupp (Lerenzo), Zachary Kaupp, Alexandra Lambert, Matthew Gautreau, Brooke Gautreau, Alayna Fielder and Amelia Fielder. Brother of Nancy Turnage (David) and Merlena Bealer. Uncle of Missy Rowe, Nancy Durham, John Durham and Christopher Weysham. Also survived by his loyal companion, Ellie.

Merlin was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He enjoyed fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed volunteering at St. Martha Catholic Church in Harvey where he was a devoted parishioner and served as an usher during Sunday morning Mass. He was an active member of Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club and the Knights of Columbus. Merlin was loved and will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are welcome to the visitation on Saturday, August 13, 2022 beginning at 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM and interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans.
