Philip Joseph David Sr.

Philip Joseph David Sr. passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the age of 79. He was the beloved husband of Isabelle Warino David for 54 years. Father of Donna David Hartman (Kenny), Philip "Roco" David (Michelle), Rachel David Helmer (Michael), and Michael David (Laura). Grandfather of Brittan (Nathan), Faris (Jessie), Danielle (Michael), Jared, Brandy, Cambri, Ava, and Laela. Great grandfather of Ace, Tyce, Colt, Rose, Maci, Letti, and Waylon. Son of the late Philip C. David and Rita Braud David. Brother of Autry (Paulette), Kenneth (Cass), and Jimmy (Paulette), as well as the late Donald, Jennifer (Pete), and Robert. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was a lifelong resident of Westwego. A professional boxer in his younger years, he was internationally ranked as a feather weight, and fought at Madison Square Gardens. He was the owner of Phil David's Roofing for over a half century. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, hanging out with his buddies, and spending time with his family. He was very protective of his family, constantly pointing out dangers, even though he himself seemed to be constantly finding them the hard way. He was always in motion, and could not stand to be idle. He is loved, and will be missed by many.

A memorial Mass will be held in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will follow the Mass until 12:00 PM.
