Vanessa Louise Melancon

Vanessa is survived by her mother, Emma Louise Egan LeBlanc of Marrero; Beloved husband Edward Melancon of 19 years; daughter, Jennifer Kenney (Gene); stepdaughters, Michelle Schwabauer (Karl), Annie Melancon and Laura Melancon​; she was the Grandmother of Devin Kenney (11), Bryson Kenney (8), Benjamin Melancon (9), Lucy Schwabauer (7), Kamryn Schwabauer (3) and Kenzley Marks​ ​(6 weeks)​; sister to Gwyneth Martinez (Glenn), Edith Sicuro (Frank), Cecile Guidry (Danny), Karl LeBlanc, Hollie Russell and Monica Johnson (David)​; ​Godmother to Monica Johnson, Frank Michael Sicuro III and Malcolm Guidry. She is​ also​ survived by several loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Carroll Thomas LeBlanc of Marrero and brother Marcel Thomas LeBlanc of Marrero.

Vanessa was born on November 9, 1955 in Marrero, LA to Carroll and Emma LeBlanc. She graduated from Immaculata High School in 1973. After 30​+​years, she retired from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office. Vanessa​ also ​had a very successful business as an Independent MaryKay consultant for 30 years. Vanessa was deeply rooted in her Faith in God and was an avid prayer warrior for anyone in need. She mentored many​ people ​through her home fellowship groups​ throughout the years​. Vanessa will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, always-giving and selfless wife, mother, sister and friend to many.

A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, June 6, 2016 at Celebration Church​, ​2001 Airline Dr.​,​Metairie, LA 70001 at 12:00 pm with a reception to follow in the church gathering/cafe area. Pastor Dennis Watson will officiate the service.​ The service will be a celebration of Vanessa's life and all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family ​has requested ​​that donations be made to a charity of your choice! Vanessa was a giver to any and everyone ​in need​. ​Additionally, t​he family would like to thank the ICU team at Ochsner Medical ​C​enter​ -​West Bank and especially Gaby (her nurse), for her kindness.
