

AUGUSTA, GA – Alma Lue Harding Franciskato Curti made her final trip to her Maker at the age of almost 83 on February 18, 2011. She passed peacefully in her home in Augusta, Georgia surrounded by her family. Alma Lue was born to John and Josie May in Newark, Arkansas on April 8, 1928, the middle child of seven. She was the last surviving sibling. Alma was educated at the age of 16 as a cadet nurse in Memphis, Tennessee and maintained a life-time professional career as a Registered Nurse. She maintained her work until shortly before her passing. She also earned her Bachelor degree in Nursing and then a double Master’s degree in Nursing Administration and Psychiatric Nursing. Throughout Alma’s life, she was a part of many professional and social organizations of which she often held leadership positions. Alma lived and traveled in many places. She grew up in Wheatley, Arkansas, raised her family and practiced nursing in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana. Being employed by the Veterans Administration she made her home and worked in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Las Cruces, New Mexico; Gulfport, Mississippi; Boston Massachusetts; Asheville, North Carolina; Boise, Idaho and intermittently and finally in Augusta, Georgia. Alma Lue was a woman before her times, an adventurer and pioneer. She broke societal barriers and lived with passion, squeezing all the juice out of life until the time of her final passing. Alma Lue was an avid horsewoman, hot air balloonist, white water rafter, camp nurse, stain glass worker, quilter, belly dancer and marathon runner. She traveled to many countries and state with the U.S. doing cross-country horseback riding and running marathons until she was 81. Alma Lue lived her life as a woman of grace, courage and utter determination. She will live among us always. She leaves her cherished husband, Vincent Curti, three of her children, twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and many friends and colleagues. She joins her son, siblings, parents and various family members and friends in the afterlife. Funeral Services will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, February 20, 2011 in the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12 noon until time of the service.
