

Dorothy Inez Baker, 86, passed away Tuesday, April 28, at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Rutherfordton, NC and lived in Augusta after marrying the love of her life. She was a retired homemaker and caregiver to many. Grandma Baker cherished times shared with her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William Oscar Baker, Sr. and her son, Billy. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children: Levaughn Johnson of Evans, GA; Maxine (Tracy) Grimes of Milton, FL; Joyce (Harold) Ford of Irmo, SC; and Debbie (Gene) Brown of North Augusta, SC; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Two words describe her so well: SHE LOVED. She loved her family, her friends, her Lord and Savior, her church family, her neighbors, and the many children she babysat throughout the years. She always saw the best in everyone. She helped take care of many friends and neighbors. She supported her husband throughout his career with the Augusta Fire Department, his years of service to the city of Augusta, and his commitment to the Augusta Richmond County Committee for Good Government. She helped him sell thousands of Bar-B-Que tickets for Good Government.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Thursday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held 1PM, Friday, May 1, 2015 in the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Bryan Cockrell officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

We would like to give special thanks to Hospice Care of South Carolina for the excellent care given to our mom over the last months. She loved and adored her aide, Priscilla. Also, special thanks to Dr. Paul Fischer and Dr. Brent Edwards for taking care of our mom and showing so much care and compassion.
