Dorothy Louise Woo was born on April 29,1940 in Augusta, GA to Gambo and Marion Woo. Dorothy spent her formative years helping in the family store (on the corner of Walton Way and Fifth Street) with older brother Bobby and she enjoyed piano lessons from a young age. She excelled in academics, graduating from Tubman High School in 1958. She attended the University of Georgia and received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Pharmacy, and also received an award for the highest Freshman GPA. She worked at Emory University pharmacy before marrying Suey Chong Loo at the Emory Chapel on September 12, 1965. She then returned to Augusta to raise a family. She raised three children, Natalie (born 1966), Clifton (born 1968) and Randall (born 1969). She took time off to raise the children and was involved in the National Hills Elementary School PTA. In 1978 she returned to work as a pharmacist, working in retail (Revco, K-Mart, Winn-Dixie) and government (VA) jobs. In the mid-80's she beat cancer and lived cancer-free for decades. In 1988, she became a grandmother and had a total of five grandchildren (Amber, Alexa, Evan, Katherine, Logan). In 2005 she retired and spent her time caring for her mother and grandchildren. She loved photography, playing the piano and collecting DVD's. Dorothy will be remembered as a respectful daughter, caring sister, faithful wife, loving mother, wonderful grandmother and loyal friend. Above all she will be missed. However, she professed her faith in Christ as Lord and Savior and will be granted new life.
She is survived by husband Suey Chong Loo, daughter Natalie Loo Dietzenbach, son Clifton Loo, son Randall Loo, and grandchildren Amber Cheek, Alexa Cheek, Evan Loo, Katherine Loo and Logan Loo. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (548 Walker St. Augusta, GA, 30901) are welcome.
