She and her husband came to Augusta in 1950 and ran a Mom-and-Pop grocery store for several years, often working long hours to save money to take care of the family. In the later years she became a homemaker and enjoyed sharing the bounty of her garden with friends. Her signature almond cookies will always be remembered as a special treat she made for others at Christmas time.
Her most important goal was to see that her children received a good education so they could have an opportunity for a better life. We will always be grateful for the hard work, struggles and sacrifices our parents made to have the privilege of the opportunities provided to us.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dock Lim Hon. She is survived by her son, Edward C Hon, Athens, GA; 2 daughters, Mee Tao Chow Woo(Ping Woon) Alhambra, CA; Brenda Mealing(Mark), North Augusta, SC.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Place at Martinez for taking good care of her.
