Patricia Ann Good Evatt (aka Gran Gran), 83, peacefully departed this earth and entered the kingdom of heaven on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Edwin and Evelyn McGrew Good. Survivors include her daughter, Paula Shelaine Evatt Beckman (Dan); daughter, Pamela Kaye Evatt-Machado (Josué); son, David Lee Evatt (Dyan); grandchildren, John Allen Beckman (Keely), Dr. Mark David Beckman (Kylie), Anna Elizabeth Beckman (Justin Henry), David Rustin Evatt (Rebecca), Sydney Elaine Evatt, Gabriel Ethan Evatt-Machado, and Rafael Nathan Evatt-Machado; great-grandsons, John Hadden Beckman and Luke Rustin Evatt; brother, Paul Edwin Good Jr. (Peggy); sister, Barbara Good Morriss (late James); brother, Thomas Stephen Good (Ginger); and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Patricia was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1936. She graduated from Central High School in 1953 and graduated college 30 years later in 1983. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Religion, Psychology, and Gerontology at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia and later attended Southwestern Seminary.
She worked in the college bookstore, in the registrar’s office, and as an administrative assistant at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia. She volunteered as a chaplain at Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport. She moved to Augusta, Georgia in 1987 in order to be closer to her grandchildren. In Augusta, she worked with the Resource Center on Aging and later as the activities director at St. John’s Towers.
Through the years she was an active member of numerous Southern Baptist churches. She attended Doraville First Baptist where her father was the music minister, North Peachtree Baptist, Sandy Springs Baptist, First Baptist Augusta, and Warren Baptist. She led the Girls Auxiliary, taught Sunday School, participated in the Women’s Missionary Union, and played the piano for worship services.
She was an incredible cook, an inspirational speaker, and a devoted prayer warrior. She loved unconditionally and found great joy in ministering to others. Generations to come will know of Christ’s love because of her commitment to share the gospel.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez, GA 30907. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez, GA 30907. The Reverend Bill Adams will officiate.
