Of Our Mom
Carolyn Elizabeth Schubert
Mom was born on Tuesday, December 7th, 1943, and was taken from us on Monday, February 27th, 2017. She was 73 years young. Mom was young at heart, and never looked her age. She was very beautiful inside and out. She was getting ready for her first trip out of the country, leaving March 3rd to go to Yucatan, Mexico. She was so excited!
She was born to John Joseph “Red” Cartwright, and Esther Laura Lucero Cartwright in San Diego, CA and was raised with her two brothers in Willits, CA. They moved to Santa Rosa, CA where she graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1961. She married our father Daniel John Schubert on April 14th, 1966. Together they raised us four girls while enjoying life in Napa, CA. During that time, Mom worked as a telephone operator for Mohr’s Answering Service.
Our beautiful Mom enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved fishing, bowling, playing darts, reading, and having fun filled gatherings with family and friends. Her favorite TV show was family feud, and her favorite tunes were country music. She also loved to cook. Her Mom, (our Grandma) taught her how to cook authentic Mexican food. She then taught all of us how to cook the delicious food too. Whenever we have a party, there is always more than enough to go around!
With a big heart, Mom was always ready to help anyone in need. From taking care of family, to giving a few dollars to homeless people around town. As many know, she adopted her two grandsons, Dustin and David. At times it was a challenge for her raising David since birth, but he was like the son she never had. She had a very soft heart, and a lively spirit. I am thankful to say, that we all have a part of her in us.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, Joe and Esther Cartwright, her husband, Daniel Schubert, younger brother David Cartwright and godson David J. T. Cartwright.
Mom is survived by her older brother Michael (Sherry) Cartwright of Windsor, CA, her four daughters Dayna (Steve) Garrett of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Deanne Schubert of Post Falls, ID, Daylene Schubert of Lincoln City, OR, Dannell Schubert (fiancé Daniel Osburn) of Marysville, WA. Eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her Aunt Lorraine (Armando) Garcia of Murrieta, CA, her sister in law Elaine Cartwright of Everett, WA, brother in law Larry Schubert of Chandler, AZ, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Mom will be missed by all, leaving holes in each of our hearts.
Arrangements under the direction of Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville, WA.
