This New Year, we said goodbye to my mother, Doris Brown-Pennington. She is survived by her son Alain Brown, youngest daughter Gina Derrick. Her sister Loretta Brown. Her Grandchildren Miya Derrick, Jnell Suchy, Marie Blanco, and Alanna Brown. She has four great grandkids and many nieces and nephew and cousins. She was the best matriarch and I love her. My amazing, talented, beautiful, adventurous, and loving mother's spirit peacefully passed away at home in her bed and I'll cherish the last moments we had together. Doris was usually focused on her children. Sending them to private school and allow them to know the Lord and have faith, especially when she is not around. Doris sacrificed so much for all the family that she raised. I can imagine she must have had much concern, raising a family in Chicago. It's been great to have the "cool and beautiful" matriarch, that so many people could know. How she made the most of a bad situation with as much fun and laughter is possible. Her legacy as a world traveler, it's not lost on her family. Doris had taken many with her on her adventures. Following are the many different things my mom has done throughout her life; grade school kitchen helper, cub scout den mother, martial artists, super nurse, musician and singer, professional painter, nursing instructor, gamer, music and movie aficionado, property and timeshare investor, long distance driver, professional bingo player, foodie, chef extraordinaire, party director, senior center staff, tap dancing, stage performer and actor, bowler, tennis player, auto enthusiast and many more. "Forever in my heart!!
