Gloria Ardelle Fosket was born on May 24, 1954, in Everett, Washington to Ken and Helen Fosket. She was the third of five children in a happy family who loved Jesus, one another, and music. She was called Peach as a baby and the name fit her so well that it was her nickname for the rest of life.
She graduated from Cascade High School ('72) and Seattle Pacific University ('77). In 1998 Gloria graduated from Portland Seminary at George Fox University. She was an ordained elder in the Free Methodist Church.
As a student Peach was involved in music—singing in choirs and small groups, playing cello in the orchestra, and traveling as a member of SPU Singers. After college she toured the country for a year with Free Spirit, a ministry of the Free Methodist Church.
Her jobs included several years of work for SPU—in the office of the President; in the Alumni office; and in the Admissions office. She also served as Children's Pastor at Seattle First Free Methodist Church and Arlington Free Methodist. Known as "Pastor Peach," she was a creative, caring pastor who loved the kids and the volunteers she worked with.
Music continued to bring her great joy. Whether singing solos, in small groups with her siblings or others, or in church and community choirs, her clear soprano voice lifted people's hearts. She loved hymns and worship music and also loved to sing songs from musicals.
Family was very important to her. Gatherings that included multiple generations of family were highlights. Peach was a doting auntie, a loving sister, a delight to her parents, and a beloved wife to her husband and "Mom" to his adult children.
When she was 57 she met Allen Ice and they were married in 2011. They had ten-and-a-half happy years together.
On April 1, 2022, she was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Gloria suffered a heart attack and passed away on April 28. We know that she is with the Lord she loved so well, and her father Ken and brother Tom. She leaves behind her family who adored her: husband Allen Ice, step-children Melissa, Melody, and Michael Ice, and grandson Liam; her mother, Helen Fosket, and her siblings, sister Ginger (Tom) Kauffman and brothers Tim Fosket and Ted (Gail) Fosket; as well as six nieces and nephews: Amy (Patrick) DeFreest, Matthew (Rachael) Fosket, Katilyn (Seth) Rutt, Nathan (Cassie) Fosket, and Tommy and Samuel Kauffman; and five great-nieces and -nephews: Bella, Gabriel, Josiah, Bryson, and Jeremiah.
A Celebration of Life for Gloria will be held on Saturday, August 6 at Sonrise Christian Center, 11625 Airport Rd, Unit D, Everett, WA. The service will begin at 1:00, with a reception following.
