Karen was born August 5, 1950 in Seattle, WA to Gilbert and Angeline Halsey. Karen enjoyed being near or on the water. She was a long time member of the Everett Yacht Club and enjoyed her annual summer trips with her loving husband Mike where they spent several weeks exploring the San Juan Islands on their yacht with their dog by their side. She spent many years living on Lake Stevens where she could be near the water each day. She adored all animals and wanted to save every one of them. Those who got to know her always had a friend by their side. She was a rock for many of us. She spent her free time reading, entertaining, and attending her grandson’s football games. Karen always worried about everyone else and was too stubborn to let us worry about her. Her fierce spirit was admired. She enjoyed dancing, celebrating life with her friends, and always threw a great party.
Karen worked as an investigator for US Government and has been enjoying life after her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Murphy; daughter Heather Chase and her husband David; step-daughter Krystene Barnes; siblings Lori and Jackie and her husband Rick; six grandchildren, Trevor Chase, Jordan, Carrie, Logan, Taylor and Maddie.
