In loving memory of Kathy Ann Nelson, born on January 15, 1964, who passed away and went home to be with our Lord in Heaven on December 27, 2023, at her Tulalip home, surrounded by the love of her life, husband of 33 years, Thomas Nelson, and cherished children, Matthew Nelson and Sophie (Nick) Happold.
Kathy embraced an active and vibrant life, faithfully working out at the YMCA, enjoying daily beach walks with “Tom’s” dog, and finding joy in water activities such as kayaking, fishing, shrimping, and crabbing. Her love for football, passion for hiking, and the warmth she shared with friends illuminated not only her days but also those that were fortunate enough to have joined her circle of friends.
Kathy was a dedicated professional who served the community working for the State of Washington for over three decades. She spent the majority of her career at the Department of Children, Youth and families, holding the position of Office Manager, providing invaluable support to the northwestern region where her work was held in the highest regard by her co-workers.
She joined in Heaven with her mother Melba Evans, survived by sisters Karen Mc Coll, Linda Evans, and brother Mike (Peggy) Evans. Kathy leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and she was preceded in death by her father, Leston "Bud" Evans.
Kathy’s strength and resilience shone even in the face of adversity when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on January 23, 2023. Her bravery, exemplified by maintaining her sense of humor, positive outlook and stoicism will remain as an inspirational legacy to her adoring family. Her enduring spirit and the memories she created will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she find eternal peace. Please join us to celebrate Kathy's life and love at 11am Monday January 15th at the Bridge Church 2500 Lake Ave, Snohomish, WA
