

Margaret Lorenza Ashe Bond, age 97, passed away on January 26, 2025. She was born on the Ashe Family farm on Jordan Road in Granite Falls, WA. Margaret graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1945 then moved to Seattle where she got her nursing degree from Seattle University. Her parents, Marie Loga Ashe and Bernard Balbinnias Ashe welcomed two more daughters, Barbara, in 1929 and Joan Marie in 1946. Margaret married Brian Hiram Bond on November 20, 1948. They had five children: John (Ginny) Bond, Joel (Debbie) Bond, Mark (Cheryl) Bond, Susan (Mark) Verbon, and Marie (Troy) Jones. Margaret enjoyed her career as an RN, working at hospitals in both Everett and Bellingham and at Virginia Manor Nursing Home in Everett. She and Brian enjoyed 67 years of marriage and were busy with family gatherings, camping with the Golden Campers and participating in the YMCA. Margaret enjoyed working in her yard, sewing, volunteered with Camp Fire Girls, helped at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Granite Falls, volunteered as a poll worker on election days, and was active in the GFHS alumni association. She was an avid reader and always had a pile of books on the coffee table.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brian; her sisters; Joan Ashe McBride (Mike) and Barbara Ashe McBride (Don). She will be missed by her thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, her brother-in-law Mike McBride, her sister-law Joy (Cliff) Bond, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Margaret spent both her early and later years living in Granite Falls where she was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. The family lived in Everett in the 1960s and early 70s. She was a member of Immaculate Conception during that time.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 6915 WA Hwy 92, Lake Stevens, WA. 98258 (near Lochsloy, between Granite Falls and Lake Stevens, WA) at 11 :00 on Friday, March 7 with a committal service to follow at the American Legion Cemetery, 10406 Jordan Road, Granite Falls, WA.
