Michael Jay Vanney

Michael (Mike) J Vanney Sr, 59, of Lake Stevens, WA passed away November 21st, 2020 in LaGrand, OR after fighting 2 years of lung cancer. Mike was born in Arlington, WA to Don and Noreen Vanney on March 15th 1961. He graduated from Arlington High School where he played on the varsity football team.

On June 28th 1985 Mike married his best friend, Barb Vanney (Slaughter). Mike and Barb raised 4 kids, Michael JR, Matthew, Staci and Jessica, out in Lake Goodwin, WA area. Mike served 4 years in the Air Force. He worked as a Correctional Officer and was promoted to a Sargent for Washington State Department of Corrections. He retired after 30 years and 4 months. Mike was a member of Fire District 20 as a Volunteer EMT. Mike had a passion for fishing, football, garage sales, and more importantly spending time with his grandbabies. Mike is survived by his wife of 35 years and their children, Michael JR, Matthew (Ashley), Staci, Jessica (Kyle). Their grandkids Ashley, Alyssa, Tristan, Zachary, Elijah, Anthany-Jay, Nayleigh, Joeylyn, Macy, Brayden-Jay, Aubrey, Layla, Phoenix, Bentli, Jordyn-Marie. His Brothers Don JR (Kathy), Jerry, Joe and sister Melissa; numerous nieces and nephews, along with all the adopted children and grandchildren. Michael Sr is preceded in death by his parents Don Sr and Noreen Vanney, his brother Scott, and nephews Jason and Jeremy Vanney.
