Born on March 17, 1937, in Everett, Washington, Robert was the son of Elmer and Helen McKay and brother to Ken (Mary), Allen (Bonnie) and Elmer McKay. He graduated from Everett High School with the Class of 1956. Shortly after, he married the love of his life, Carol McKay, on October 15, 1956. Together, they built a beautiful life over 68 years of marriage, raising three children: Mark, David (Jillian), and Julie (Jeff).
Robert served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy immediately after high school. Following his service, he dedicated 30 years as a firefighter with the Everett Fire Department, embodying a spirit of bravery and selflessness.
An avid outdoorsman, Robert found joy in fishing and hunting. He and Carol traveled the world, often accompanied by their dear friends, Betty and Bill Wiggins. A man of deep faith, Robert was an active member of the Marysville Nazarene Church, where he generously gave his time—helping with Vacation Bible School, building sets for church plays, and participating in multiple mission trips.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; his brother, Elmer McKay; his sister-in-laws Mary McKay and Bonnie McKay, his children, Mark McKay of Granite Falls, David (Jillian) McKay of Ephrata, and Julie (Jeff) Koon of Lake Stevens; and his cherished grandchildren, Riley, Tyler, and Morgan.
Robert was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Generations Community Church (Nazarene) in Marysville.
