Born to Willie and Olive Mae “May” (nee Holland) Evenson, Bill began his life on the family farm in Wildrose, North Dakota with his older sister, Mayadelle, and younger brother, Robert. In 1949 the family moved to Merced, CA, finally settling in Marysville, WA, in 1955. Bill graduated from Marysville H.S. in 1962. As a young man he served in the Army National Guard of Washington. He became a Snohomish County Deputy Sheriff in 1967, made his career on the force, retiring as detective.
His mother wrote in her memoire that as a youngster Bill’s favorite things were “girls, cars, and pie (plus cookies and ice cream and anything sweet)!”. These loves would continue throughout his lifetime, but his heart would embrace the love of his life, Jill. Bill loved life and living! He loved his family - who will forever remember him for his huge bear hugs, his easy laughter and the twinkle in his vivid blue eyes. Bill valued friends and was immensely loyal to his friendships, many nurtured from high school. He enjoyed sitting back and shooting the bull, he had a tremendous sense of humor and loved exchanging clever jokes. He enjoyed time well spent with Jill on his Hat Island property and in the BVI’s. He treasured memories of adventures in the San Juan Islands with his family. He adored his grandchildren and was a wonderful fun-loving Grandpa. He loved the roar and feel of a powerful engine and taking the wheel from any platform (auto, motorcycle, boat or aircraft), and he took meticulous care of his treasured hotrods. He was strong, proud, hardworking, took immense pride in everything he did, and was great judge of character. Bill was dedicated throughout his life to always listen, learn, evolve and grow.
Bill is survived by his high school sweetheart, Jill; his children, Kyra and Joe; his grandchildren, Brennan, Robin, Lawton and Rosamund; and 4 great-grandsons.
Rest peacefully, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Friend and Love, you are forever loved and missed.
