Rose A. Hobbins, a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted member of her community, passed away on February 27, 2025, in North Massapequa, NY, at the age of 91. Born in the Bronx, NY, to Carmine and Josephine D'Andrea, Rose had a special bond with her grandmother, Grace, who raised her as a daughter. This strong family foundation shaped Rose into the caring, loving, and devoted woman she became.
Rose married Joseph Hobbins, and together they raised two children, Andrea (Carmine) DiDomenico and Patrick Hobbins, who were the center of her world. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Josephine, Carmine, Angelina, and Joseph. Rose cherished her grandchildren, maintaining unique and special relationships with each of them, and was always there to provide love and guidance.
In addition to her immediate family, Rose was deeply loved by her honorary son Tommy and her extended family members, Rose and Joe, who were like siblings to her. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and godchildren, all of whom were touched by her kindness and generosity.
A dedicated community member, Rose founded the North Massapequa Civic Association and served as president for many years. Her tireless work made a lasting impact on the area she loved. Rose was also an active member of Maria Regina Roman Catholic Church, where she contributed to the Pre Cana program and participated in a weekly prayer group. Her faith and dedication to helping others were central to everything she did.
Rose’s love of family extended beyond her immediate circle. She was known for her warm heart, her love of cooking, especially her famous chicken cutlets, and her talent for baking, with her crumb cakes and ice cream cakes being a favorite among family and friends. Her biggest passion, however, was helping others, and she always had a kind word, a listening ear, and a generous heart to offer. She loved catching up with friends and chatting with them on the phone, always keeping in touch and spreading joy to those around her.
Visitation will be held at James Funeral Home, Massapequa, NY, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 7-9pm and Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 10:45am at Maria Regina RCC, with interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, East Farmingdale, NY.
Rose will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and service to others will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
May she rest in peace.
