William R. Peskoran

William R. Peskoran, 80, passed away on Friday, September 25, at his home in Williamsfield with his wife, Lynn, at his side. He was born February 29, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Elma (Johnson) and William G. Peskoran. Elma later remarried Frank Roberts of Canyon Lake, TX, who raised him as his son.

Bill graduated from Euclid High School, and enlisted in the U.S. Army becoming a Tank Commander while serving in Germany. There he met and married his first wife and together they had two children, Christine and Eric.

Upon returning to Euclid, OH, he worked for thirty-five years as a Shift Foreman for the Euclid Wastewater Treatment Plant. From a young age, he also worked for veterinarian, Dr. Daniel Stearns, who was a mentor and friend for life, nurturing Bill’s innate love for animals, birds and nature.

His love of nature led him to skip school and hitchhike out to Pymatuning Lake where he spent many happy hours hunting, fishing and building friendships. Upon retirement, he moved permanently to Williamsfield, Ohio. Always willing to help a neighbor, he once loaned a pickaxe to a local business owner, Lynn (Buchan) Crane, and invited her to meet his favorite bird buddy. They were married May 23, 2004.

Bill is survived by his wife, Lynn; daughter, Christine Rice-Demos of East Berlin, PA, and son Eric (Alana) Rice of Euclid; stepfather, Frank Roberts of Canyon Lake, TX; siblings, Marianne “Dee” Larkins of Euclid, Ruth (Andrew) Nappi of Sandusky, Frank “Jim” (Summer ) Roberts of Phoenix, AZ, Lynn (Patrick) Jones of Painesville; stepson, Peter Crane of Stockholm, SE, and stepdaughter, Morgan Crane of Nokomis, FL; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and childhood friend Tony Ticchione, who was one of many close friends, both “English” and Amish. He was also survived by Lynn’s “Jefferson, OH” family, including Bill’s mother-in-law, Esther (Buchan) Blevins, who welcomed him into their hearts and homes from day one, and provided much-needed support during his many medical challenges over the years.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Elma (Johnson) Roberts, his father and stepmother, William G. and Earline Peskoran, and his favorite uncle and aunt, Roy and Agnes Johnson, who called him “Sheriff.”

Bill is also survived by long-time friend, David Reed, of Williamsfield, OH, who introduced him at age 78 to the Men’s Life Group from Rock of Grace Church in Kinsman. Those supportive men witnessed his re-birth in 2019 as a firm believer in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. There was no doubt in his mind, or Lynn’s, that he was safely in the arms of God when he died.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 9 AM until the funeral service officiated by Pastor Mark Biel at 11 AM at DiCicco & Sons Funeral Home, 5975 Mayfield Rd., Mayfield Hts., OH 44124 with interment at 1:30 PM at Western Reserve National Cemetery. The family will also hold calling hours starting at 10 AM on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Williamsfield Community Center, 5920 US Hwy 322, Williamsfield, OH 44093 with a memorial service at 11:30 followed by lunch. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve or a wildlife rescue center of your choice.
