

Douglas Fredrick Bickers, 86, of Maysville died Monday, August 18, 2014. Mr. Bickers was a retired educator, having served as a Teacher, Guidance Counselor, Principal and Superintendent during his career at Campbell County, Carroll County and Boone County school systems. He was a veteran and served twenty-two years in the US Air Force and was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church. Mr. Bickers was born in Carrollton, Kentucky on March 6, 1928 the son of the late Homer John and Mattie Carter Bickers. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Arthur Bickers; his daughter, Denise Bray (Allen) of Dover, KY; his step son, Quinn McKnight (B. J.) and step daughter, Kathyann Azzara (David) both of Louisville, KY; one grandson, Tyler Sparks (Katie) and one great grandson, Andrew Sparks; one brother, Gilbert Bickers (Edna) of Mt. Sterling, KY and one sister, Mary Jo Barrickman of Carrollton, KY. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Wilson Bickers; brothers, William, Roy, Jackie and Homer Bickers and a sister, Evelyn Stewart. Funeral services for Douglas Bickers will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 11 AM, Thursday, August 21, 2014 with Rev. Jerry Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the Battle Grove Cemetery in Cynthiana, KY. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM.
