

Edna M. “Jackye” Erwin, 88, former resident of Bon Haven Drive, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 in Lexington. Mrs. Erwin was born in May’s Lick on March 23, 1923, the daughter of the late William and Katherine Guilfoyle Manion. She was a longtime substitute teacher in the Mason County School system and served as an assistant librarian at the Maysville Community College for 18 years. She had been a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church in May’s Lick and later was a member of Saint Patrick Church. Mrs. Erwin was a wonderful mother who loved to cook and play bridge several times a week. “Jackye” Erwin is survived by her son Greg (Carol) Erwin of Lexington, her daughter-in-law Sarah Erwin of Lexington, four grandchildren Brad (Ashley) Erwin of Charlotte, NC, and Brian and Tom Erwin and Emily (John) Franklin, all three of Lexington and three great grandchildren Barrett Erwin and Myles and Abigail Franklin. Also surviving is her sister Sammye Tierney of Richmond. Preceding her in death was her husband James C. Erwin, a son James C. Erwin, Jr. and three sisters Virginia Manion, Ruth Butler and Helen Brisley. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at Saint Patrick Church with Rev. Ivan Kalamuzi officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4: until 6:00 PM at the Knox & Brothers Funeral Home.
