I feel so deprived to have missed the services for Jerry's home going.  He was a true friend. I am so honored to have known him and his leadership with the Morehead State University Black Gospel Ensemble.  I will miss your friendship.  Rest in peace.

I  had my work study under him for two years at MSU and I meet my now husband in that office. He came to our wedding and video taped. We loved him so much.

I was very sadden to hear of Jerry Gore's transition to the land of our ancestors.  I first met him at the National Conference on the Black Family in Louisville, KY about 1986/87.  His quiet but profound manner of presenting our history as Africans Americans was always enlightening and memorable.  This gentleman and scholar will be missed but his teachings and gentle spirit will remain with me for my lifetime.  I still recall his presentations (assisted by Peggy Overly) about slavery, its impact then and now.

To the family of my friend and former MSU roommate, Jerry Gore. There was not a better human being to grace my life and the lives of all he touched. His gentle spirit, his loving heart, and his willingness to give of himself for himself will never be replicated. His spirit is what made all he did so influential in the lives of those he met.

So sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I was a part of his life at Maysville High School as a teacher and coach. When our first son was born he would take care of him at school functions and when another son went to Morehead, I felt secure when I found out that Jerry was on staff. My condolences.

First of all, I want to offer my condolences to the family of this kind and loving man.  Mr. Gore displayed the kindness, warmth and wisdom which uplifted and encouraged individuals.  I had the pleasure of meeting him when I attend Morehead St University and he made my transition to college life a little easier.  I thank God for Mr. Gore and I will always remember his wonderful smile and energy.

Jerry was the RA in my dormitory when I was an undergrad at Morehead State.  Later in life, Jerry was a member of the MSU administration when I chaired the Board of Regents.  Jerry Gore was totally, absolutely and unequivocally a very, very good man......,

I meet Jerry when I first came to Maysville. I really did enjoy talking with him. 
I learned so much from him. I thank God for our paths crossing. He always had a smile on his face, and a kind word. He will be missed. Prayers to his family.

I met Jerry Gore while visiting the Maysville Underground Railroad. He was our guide, and I was so amazed by his ability to bring this story to life so vividly. He impressed me with his kindness toward all of us on the tour, especially to my special needs granddaughter. I shall always hold him in a fond memory.

To the family of my Resident Dorm Supervisor and College Gospel Choir Advisor. Mr Gore was a very special man. I attended Morehead State University (Go Eagles) in 1979 - 1980. And even in that short time, Mr Gore had a major impact in my life. I was sort of recruited to MSU, by him personally, to become the College Gospel Choir Lead Director. We song at many Colleges and Churches throughout the State of Kentucky and Southern Ohio. We received many standing ovations because of our special accapella gospel style of singing. Mr Gore, as I knew him, was a very proud Black Man. He encourage us as African-American to also be proud of our Heritage and respect other Cultures as well. He always "preached", not to demand respect, but to gain respect, first as a Individual then as a Race. Mr. Gore, was my Barnabas (The Encourager). He will be missed greatly! REST IN HEAVEN MR GORE!!!

Jerry is a Griot in every sense of the word.  His knowledge, wisdom, compassion, empathy, selflessness,and kindness were just of few of his outstanding character trademarks. Jerry touched the lives of thousands, and he will continue to do so through the memories that God has blessed each of us who were touched by him with. I will always remember the impact he had on my life personality, and will treasure the multitude of conversations we had.  Jerry will be sadly missed, and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Jerry Gore found the Good in the Kentucky segment of the URR, in the value of transferring important but otherwise neglected parts of American history to generations to come.
