Belvia Luther Phillips, age 92, of McDonough, Georgia passed away January 23, 2022. Belvia was born December 27, 1929 in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Luther Howard and Ruby McPeters Phillips. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Louise Morris Phillips; son, Carey Michael Phillips; sisters, Dorothy Sanders and Sandra Henderson. Belvia faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He retired after 33 years with MARTA and was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer, loved to attend church and spend time with his family. He enjoyed the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs; working in the yard and indulging in ice cream and chocolate. On Veterans Day 2021, he was honored as the oldest veteran by Delta Airlines. Survivors include his daughters, Tracey (Berkely) VanRoyen, Denise Stacks and Lisa Phillips; grandchildren, Michael Williams, Daniel Williams, Lindsey Dupree, Haley Rivers and Amber VanRoyen; great grandchildren, Destiney, Levi and Abigail Williams; sister, Martha (Bob) Traylor; grandawgs, Sammy and Bella. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 31, 2022 - 12:00 PM in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family Sunday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
