Mrs. Berma Jean Davenport, age 90, of Hampton, Georgia, passed away on September 29, 2016. She was born in Cordele, Georgia to the late Jessie and Eva Tillman Martin. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband William Allen Davenport III and a sister, Bebe Rodgers. Jean was the heart of her home and loved time spent with family and friends. She enjoyed working in her garden and cooking. An interesting fact from Jean’s life, she was voted prettiest baby in Cordele in 1926 and won a grand prize of two dollars. She will be missed. Jean is survived by her children, Allen (Carol) Davenport, Debra (Jimmy) Austin, Joey (Melinda) Davenport, Kathy (Barry) Britt; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A graveside service to honor Jean’s life will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 beginning 1:00 PM at Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia.
