Claire Mercedes Brightly

Mrs. Claire Mercedes “Pinky” Brightly, age 77, of McDonough, GA passed away July 29, 2018. Mrs. Brightly was born in Kingston, Jamaica the daughter of the late Iris Jefferson Reid and Stephen Reid. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Robert Brightly; brothers, Morris, George, and Roy Reid; and a sister, Loretta Foster.

Mrs. Brightly enjoyed spending time with family, friends and worshiping God. She was a member of Melchidecek Apostolic Spiritual Church in Conyers and a previous founding member of Trinitarian Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY. Mrs. Brightly was known for her sense of humor and being a straight shooter, she enjoyed dancing, music and was a good cook. She was active with the Hidden Valley Senior Center before moving to McDonough and joining the Heritage Senior Center.

Survivors are daughters, Winsome Blaire Reid of Miami, FL and Arlene Brightly-Hardy and husband Terry of McDonough; grandchildren, Jordan Williams of NY and Madison Wilmott of Miami; siblings, Howard Reid of NY, Margaret Reid of Smyrna, GA, Marva Cameron of Virginia Beach, VA, Norma Stanley and husband, Alan of Ft. Lauderdale, and Dorothy Reid Decosta of Ft. Lauderdale; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral Service will be on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Bishop Damon Ian Hing officiating with interment at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough.
