David John McGinnis, Sr.

Mr. David J. McGinnis, Sr., 71 of McDonough passed away May 14, 2019. He was born in Atlanta on February 3, 1948 to the late Charles A. and Peggy Woolford McGinnis. David was an Atlanta Fire Fighter for 10 years and a decorated city of Atlanta Police Officer for 20 years. After retiring from the city of Atlanta he was employed with R & L Carriers as a security investigator. David was an avid boater, gardener and animal lover. He was preceded in death by his daughter Margaux McGinnis, his grandson Malcolm McGinnis and a brother Terry McGinnis, Sr. David is survived by a son David McGinnis, Jr. of Locust Grove, granddaughter, Samantha (Matt Aderhold) McGinnis, and a great-granddaughter Sloan Aderhold. Brothers and sisters, Malcolm McGinnis, Susie (Cecil) Waldrop, Gary (Sandra) McGinnis, Russell McGinnis, Melody (Van) Covington and Robin McGinnis and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends on June 1, 2019 at 12:00pm and a Celebration of Life will follow in our chapel at 1:00pm with Pastor Dave Riley officiating.
