Mrs. Helen Babb Berry, age 87 of McDonough, Georgia passed away October 6, 2016. Helen was born June 11, 1929 in McDonough, Georgia and a native of Flippen, Georgia. She was a lifelong member of Flippen United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and loved singing in the choir. Helen is also a former member of the Eastern Star. She was the youngest of four children born to the late Andrew Clay and Annie Mae Steele Babb. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lamar Berry, her brothers, J.C. Babb, Robert Babb and Wesley Babb. Survivors include her six children, Rick Berry (Jewell), Debby Berry Thompson (Buck), Brenda Berry Villa (Manny), Connie Berry Elrod (Mike), Gloria Berry Strait (Jonathan) and Andy Berry (Linda); 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and a sister in law. After retiring from Trust Company Bank for 26 years, Helen began her second career as a Court Bailiff for Henry County Sheriff’s Department for 19 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She was an avid reader and loved her time with the Book Club. She also loved cooking for her family and friends. Recently, she was a resident of Benton Village in Stockbridge, Georgia where she reconnected with life-long friends and enjoyed her new friends and life there. Helen loved her church family and her God of grace, with great faith, devotion and service. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, October 9, 2016 – 2:00 pm at the Flippen United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Pastor Ken Huff and Rev. Gary DeMore will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit the family Saturday from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Flippen United Methodist Church in memory of Helen Berry.
