Mr. Ira Evans Hadaway, 91 of McDonough passed away March 7, 2021. He was born on Saturday, October 19, 1929 in Lumpkin, Georgia to the late William and Ruth Hadaway. Ira was a proud US Air Force veteran and served in Korea. He enjoyed reading, traveling, and working on engines and tractors. Mr. Hadaway was a volunteer fireman for Jonesboro, Georgia, a member of Bethany Baptist Church in McDonough and a mechanic for Eastern Airlines for 33 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 51 years, Mary Jean Geiger Hadaway. Ira is survived by his children, Linda (Jeff) Cathey of Wichita, KS, James Benjamin (Sharron) Hadaway of Huntsville, AL and Timothy (Kay) Hadaway of Hampton, GA. Seven grandchildren, Jonathan (Abby) Cathey, Benjamin Cathey, Jacob Cathey, Mallory Hadaway, Evan Hadaway, Kelly Hadaway and Ciara Hadaway. One sister, Beth (Troy) Thomaston of McDonough and one brother, Billy (Rita) Hadaway of Covington and two great grandchildren, Cooper and Avonlea. Pastor Al O'Quinn will officiate Mr. Hadaway's funeral at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Bethany Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00pm. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Those desiring may send contributions to the building fund at Bethany Baptist Church.
