James A. Elllington

James A. Ellington (Jimmy), lovingly known as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 89. He was born on June 18, 1936 in Forest Park, Georgia.

Jimmy shared an incredible 69 years of marriage with the love of his life, Mary E. Ellington. He was a proud father to Eddie Ellington (Cindy) and Betsy Decater (Jim), and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family. Jimmy cherished his role as grandpa to Krista Holland (Spencer), Joshua Ellington (Lyndsay), and Nicholas Decater, and he took even greater delight in his great-grandchildren, Grace and Andrew Holland, and Colt, Kipp, and Whitt Ellington, who were a constant source of happiness and pride.

Jimmy will be remembered for his energetic presence, kind heart, and deep love for those around him. His legacy lives on in the generations he helped shape and the family he loved so well.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his father George Alfred Ellington, his mother Odie Mae Ellington, his brother Henry Ferrell Ellington, and his sister Lettie C. Johnson.

Visitation for Jimmy will be held on Saturday, January 17th, at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, Georgia, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
