James Leon Kersey

Mr. James Kersey, 72 of McDonough passed away at his home on April 6. 2019. He served proudly with the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam and he retired after 38 years from Overnite Transportation and Henry County Board of Education after 10 years. Jimmy's hobbies and interests include the Georgia Bulldogs, NASCAR, and watching golf. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha Lynn Moss Kersey, daughter Katey and Craig Piper, grandchildren, Sadie, Emma, Ashley, Candace and Destiny and several great grandchildren. Sisters Karen Breedlove and Penny and Earl Spikes, Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve and Kathy Moss, Janet and Doug Stevens and Kathi and Jeff Coley. Nieces, Shelly and Cary Colwell, Whitney and McKenzie Spikes, Kim and Ken Graves, Travis and Susan Moss, Kylie Chappell, Mallory and Keith Wimpey, Maran and Klyde Kim, Laura and Douglas McRae and Brett and Daniel Crowe. Several great nieces, nephews and cousins. Beloved family, Eddie and Reba Kersey, Kyle, Amber, Micah and Noah Kersey, Pebbles and Glenn Smith, Dawn and John Richardson, Pat Hamlin, Melissa and Ashley Barnes, Chris Hamlin and Melody, Ed and Gigi Hoard and Shirley Kersey and numerous beloved cousins. Jimmy was preceded in death by his sons, Andy and Mike Kersey, parents, Ruth and Jamie Kersey, sister, Emily Hamlin, and his beloved aunt and uncle Frankie and Van Kersey. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 with Funeral Services starting at 3:00pm at the funeral home. Rev. Ed Hoard will officiate.
