Joel Scott McDonald, age 56 of McDonough, GA passed November 13, 2016. Born in Jacksonville, FL, he was preceded in death by his father Clarence Whitney McDonald, Sr., mother Bettye Ruth McMath McDonald, and two brothers, Bill and Whitney McDonald, Jr. Joel was a member of Peoples Baptist Church, employed at ChemStar Corporation, a loving family man and multi-talented in both his career and personal life. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Marilyn McDonald; son, Scott Douglas McDonald; daughter, Melissa (Mitch) Anderson; grandchildren, Bailey, Macie and Blake Anderson; brothers, David (Mary) McDonald, Kevin (Belinda) McDonald and several nieces and nephews. As he was not able to make the ultimate contribution (himself) to cancer research, to best honor his wishes, in lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made in Joel ‘s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital as 100% of all donations do go to help the children (www.stjude.org).
