Julia Christina Mahoney Rowland, age 48 passed away on January 20, 2025 at her home in Monticello. Julie was born in Ludwigshafen, Germany. She spent the first 2 years of her life in Germany’s Rheinland Pfalz, then came to Forest Park, Georgia with mom, Konstanze ‘Connie’ Mahoney and dad, James ‘Boney’ Mahoney, when he was transferred there for work in 1978.
Julie valued hard work, honesty, her family and friends. She was strong-willed and creative, decisive and generous. She had a sharp mind and a sharp sense of humor. Her eye for beauty included that rare gift of being able to look at a space or a thing and know how to turn it into something lovely. She raised her son, Cameron Keck (Katelyn), as a young mother. She became a firefighter at age 24, working for the Henry County Fire Department and then received certification as an EMT. During that time, she had her first daughter Emma Rowland, and then met her soul mate, husband Greg Rowland and her second daughter, Lilli Anne Rowland.
Eventually, her path turned from firefighting and the medical fields, and Greg gave her the gift of security to explore her own creativity through the creation of Row & Co Farms at their homestead. She produced her own food in abundance, growing her own vegetables and raising animals. She continuously learned new things and shared them with her community, from bee-keeping to flower farming to producing her own line of self-care products. From Monticello, Georgia, she shared her experiences and life with the world through social media. She connected with people everywhere she went.
She was predeceased by her mother, Konstanze “Connie” Mahoney.
Julie is survived by her husband,Greg Rowland, her children, and two grandchildren, Harper and Payton who gave Julie much joy and who in turn loved their Owie very much. She is also survived by her father, James Mahoney, her sister and brother-in-law, Anika Mahoney and Craig Okraska, as well as many loving extended family members, including sisters-in-law Pam Spahos (Gary Hamilton), Ginger Cowan (Dean), Robin Rowland (Brad, deceased).
The family would like to express their gratitude to her friends and extended family who provided such an outpouring of love and support during her life and final days.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, Georgia, following by a celebration of life from 1:00pm to 2:00 PM.
