Keron Edward Drayton began his life journey on September 23, 1992 in Newark, NJ where he was born to his parents Vashti Smith and Carlton Brown. Following his family’s move to Irvington in 1993, he attended Mount Vernon Avenue Elementary School and Union Avenue Middle School. He then relocated with his family to Locust Grove, GA in 2006. He continued his middle school education at Ola Middle School in McDonough, GA. After his middle school completion, he went on to earn a high school diploma from Locust Grove High School.
Throughout his high school years, Keron dedicated his time working at Burger King and Wal-Mart. Shortly after, he enrolled in a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) training program and successfully obtained certification upon completion. He was then employed at the Westbury Health Care Nursing Home, overseeing the supplies room. In addition to his primary responsibilities at Westbury, Keron often went above and beyond by performing the duties of a CNA with care and devotion.
He was attending Gordon State College to obtain a B.S.N to become a Registered Nurse. His ultimate goal was to become an Anesthesiologist.
Keron was a young man who demonstrated resilience and relentless pursuit of his aspirations. He was very tech savvy and displayed a natural knack for fixing things around the house, whether it was his own or someone else’s. He had a passion for cooking and sharing meals with others, always ensuring there was plenty to be enjoyed by all. His warmth and congeniality made him a joy to be around.
Keron devoted his time and took considerable care of his brother Keevin and his little cousin Zion. He was very protective of Zion, displaying a benevolent spirit toward her. His deep affection and admiration for children transcended into him becoming an uncle to his niece Kelsey just a year ago. Although he was not able to physically hold her, his emotional connection was still felt from the day she was born and we know he will forever protect her. These actions are just a few examples of the source of warmth and support Keron had for his loved ones.
Keron is survived by his mother, Vashti Smith; father, Carlton Brown; stepfather, James Smith; brothers, Kelvin Miller and Keevin Skeete; sisters, Keshia Drayton and Kanisha Drayton; aunts, Violet DeSilva, Doris Petrie, Claudette Skeete, and Agnes London; uncle, Kenneth Skeete; niece, Kelsey; sister-in-law, Shanelle; and a host of cousins and friends. He was the grandson of the late Francis and Muriel Skeete.
Keron will be deeply missed by his family and friends who loved him. His memory will continue to be cherished by all those whose lives he touched.
A visitation for Keron will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, Georgia 30253, followed by a celebration of life at 6:00 PM.
