

Lois O. Carney, 81, of Villa Rica, GA, passed away April 26th, 2014 after a final bout with cancer. She was born near Connellesville, Pa, June 29th, 1932 at home to her parents Edgar and Pauline Oglevee on Oglevee Lane. She attended College at Alfred College in New York and married W. Kirk Carney on July 5th, 1951. As a housewife she raised two sons that she was proud of. The family lived in Indianapolis, IN, Haddon Township, NJ, San Diego, CA, and Mesa, AZ as the boys grew up. Both sons graduated from the University of Virginia with Bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering. Lois entered the workforce in Cherry Hill, NJ as a florist; a trade she had learned as a young girl from her father. Lois and Kirk moved to McDonough, GA in 1977 to open and manage Oglevee Products Inc. which at the time was the second largest private employer in McDonough. Upon Kirk’s death in 1985, she assumed the role of General Manager of Oglevee Products in Georgia. She became Production Coordination Manager for all Oglevee affiliates and served on the Board of Directors of Ogleevee Limited until she retired. She is survived by Mark and Suzette Carney of Villa Rica, GA; Bruce and Denise Carney of Anderson, SC; grandson Christopher E. Carney of Columbia, SC; granddaughter Elizabeth A. Carney Warren of Columbia, SC; step granddaughter Ashley E. Evans of Anderson, SC; and step grandson Harrison A. Barnett of Anderson, SC. Flowers may be sent to Haisten Funeral Home on May 9th or donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Inurnment will occur at 1:00pm at Eastlawn Cemetery in McDonough. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Haisten Funeral Home, McDonough on May 9th at 2:00 pm with a visitation to follow.
