Louis Edward Avery Jr.

Mr. Louis Edward Avery, Jr., age 47 of Stockbridge, Georgia passed away October 6, 2015. He was born in Petersburg, VA to Louis Edward Avery, Sr. and the late Edna Greene Avery. He was preceded in death by sisters, Kimberly Avery, Marquette Brooks and Phyllis Herndon. Louis, also known as Junie and Akre, faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He was a graduate of Shaw University in Raleigh, NC and was of the Baptist faith. Louis mentored young kids in the neighborhood and enjoyed music and chess. Survivors include his father, Louis Avery of Petersburg, VA; mom, Ann Avery of Henrico, VA; wife, Jewel Avery of Stockbridge, GA; siblings, Monica B. Washington (Randolph) of Hope Mills, NC, Marla V. Brock of Petersburg, VA, Robbie V. Grant (Pat) of Chester, VA, Charles Co-Mike Avery of Petersburg, VA, Marucita Brock Polk (Shandell) of Cleveland, OH; daughter, LoToyia Flowers (Kenneth Allen) of Atlanta, GA; grandson, Jahbarie Allen of Atlanta, GA; granddaughters, Jaila Holmes of Atlanta, GA and Gabrielle Avery Allen of Atlanta, GA; brother in law, David Herndon of Chester, VA. Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will also be held October 31, 2015 at 1:00 PM from the Third Baptist Church, Petersburg, VA.
