Samuel Marlin Hughes

Samuel Marlin Hughes, age 80, of McDonough, GA passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. He was born in Eufaula, AL to the late Sam and Nellie Hughes. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Elnora Hughes and brothers Larry Hughes and Randy Hughes.

Samuel is survived by his daughter Windie Michelle Johnson and grand daughter Ashley Johnson; siblings Wade (Gail) Hughes, Nell (Eddie) Roberts, and Carey (Linda) Hughes; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved family members.

Samuel better known as "Pawpaw" adored his family and undeniably treasured his only granddaughter. He often times stepped up as a father figure for more than just his daughter, especially for his younger siblings. When he married Elnora he became dedicated to her three sons, accepting them as his own. No better words could describe him than a loving and caring father. His passion for music and love for Elvis only came second to his love for his family. Coming in third would be Panama City Beach where he traveled with his family every year since 1974. He will be greatly missed, especially his contagious belly laughter.

A visitation for Samuel will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, Georgia 30253. A celebration of life will be Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Haisten chapel. A graveside service will immediately follow chapel services at Westminster Memorial Gardens, 2090 GA-54, Peachtree City, GA 30269.
