Sue was born in Locust Grove, Ga to the late Malcom and Mattie Lou Apple. In addition to her parents Sue was greeted in Heaven by her husband Jimmy Pullin and siblings Herman Apple (Evelyn), Ravel Apple, Katherine (Arthur) Thornton, Faye (Wright) Lipford, Betty (Bob) Mayo, Ina Rue Apple.
Sue was happiest in life bringing joy to her family and being in service to others. Family holidays were always special because she would prepare everyone's favorite dishes weeks in advance and goodies galore were enjoyed throughout the season. She had an adventurous spirit when on family vacations, seeing new places, trying new things and loved experiencing it all with her children and grandchildren. Daytona Beach held a special place in her heart, watching her children playing on the beach and collecting seashells when they were young. Then later on, St. Simons Island became the summer destination spot, taking walks on the beaches, building sandcastles, playing games, watching her grandchildren body surfing and her favorite vacation activity, floating down the lazy river. As much as she loved the beach, she equally loved the fresh air of the mountains and taking in the majestic views of the Smokies. Whether on vacation or a special occasion, she loved going out to eat, especially fried shrimp and fish. No matter where she was or what she was doing, there was always a smile on her face when surrounded by her grandchildren.
Gardening, tending to her flowers and watching all the birds eat out of their feeders were some of her favorite outdoor activities. Sue was an avid reader and master at putting together puzzles. She passed on a passion for crafts, nature, cooking and gardening to children and grandchildren, teaching them how to latch hook, sew, scramble eggs, identify flowers, can veggies and burn toast (she referred to it as pleasingly brown).
She touched many lives throughout her life being of service to her Lord including countless boys and girls when she taught RA's and GA's as well as leading vacation bible school in the summer. She faithfully served as the Sunday School director for First Baptist Church Locust Grove for over 20 years and was instrumental in establishing the church library. She served in many other capacities over the years, wherever she was needed. Everyone who was lucky enough to know her always described her as one of the sweetest women they have ever met, a wonderful mentor and a true servant of the Lord. Sue is also remembered as a faithful wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, Apple sister, special aunt, wonderful teacher, and Christian woman. Her influence was almost as broad as her love for those in her life.
Sue's legacy lives on through her children: Cheryl (Terry) McMickle, Cynthia (Ed) Clark and Mitch Pullin, grandchildren: Jeremy (Jen), Holly, Brian (Julie), Jim and Kristi, great grandchildren: Chase, Connor and Dylan and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
