Suzanne "Sue" Mobley Gissendaner of Jasper, AL, affectionately known as “Mama Sue” by her loved ones, passed away on May 30, 2018. She was born on November 12, 1942 to Annie Laurie Smith Mobley and Toombs Morgan Mobley and grew up in McDonough, Georgia. Sue attended Tift College and on November 15, 1963, she married Douglas Gissendaner of Albany, Georgia. They had three children together.
Along with sharing a cup of coffee and good conversation at her kitchen table, Sue’s laughter, humor, warmth, and caring nature were the qualities that made her endearing to so many people. Sue is survived by her husband of 54 years, Doug; daughters, Lee (Kevin) Bazemore and Jennifer Bolling, both of Birmingham, AL; 4 granddaughters (Emma, Katie, Olivia, and Claire Morgan); sister Betty (Warren) Gunter of McDonough, GA; nieces Laurie (Jim) Mercer and Kathie Overstreet of McDonough, GA, and many cousins and friends which were her extended family. She is preceded in death by her son, Douglas Morgan Gissendaner, and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, GA on June 9. Visitation with the family will begin at 3pm and the service will follow at 4pm.
