Mrs. Billye Sue Sulzer Ramsey, age 84, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 in Gatesville, Texas. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor with Dr. Daniel Crosby officiating. Burial to follow in Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2024 at Cole Funeral Home.
Billye was born on April 18, 1939 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Lee Lester and Ollie Rosetta (Pearce) Sulzer. When her mother passed at an early age, 2 year old Billye, was raised by her uncle and aunt, Ernest and Ida Mae Sulzer. She graduated from Buffalo Valley High School. Billye married the love of her life, Stanley Lynn Ramsey of Whitesboro, Oklahoma on September 25, 1958 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Billye and Stanley moved to Oglesby in 1960 where they lived the remainder of their married life and raised 5 children and 1grandson.
Billye retired from Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Gatesville, Texas in 1998 after 20 years of service. She enjoyed spending time with her family, most of all, her grandchildren which included many sporting events all over the state of Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oglesby.
She is preceded in death by her parents, uncle and aunt Ernest and Ida Mae Sulzer, husband, Stanley Lynn Ramsey, sister, Ina Ruth Hoglan and grandson Robbie Goins.
Billye is survived by Dana Ramsey (daughter) of Hodgen, Oklahoma, Gerald Lynn Ramsey (son) and Stacy of Sparks, Teresa Timmons (daughter) and Scott of Gatesville, Sherri Campbell (daughter) and Kenneth of Marshall, Karen Hawk (daughter) and Michael of Temple, Sylvia Graves (daughter) of San Angelo, David Clark (grandson) and Heather of Waco, Tommy Goins (grandson) of Indiana, Cole Ramsey (grandson) and Jayme of Little River-Academy, Liz Ramsey (granddaughter) and fiancé Brandon Boyer of Temple, Preston Timmons (grandson) of Gatesville, Brooklyn Bailey (granddaughter) and Marte of Gatesville, Lilly Timmons (granddaughter) of Gatesville, Krystal Bell (granddaughter) and James of Belton, Branden Hawk (grandson) and Hailey of Temple, Patricia Hoglan (sister) of Hooks, a incredible amount of great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Billye, Mom, Granny was the foundation for our family. She didn’t make a fuss but was instrumental in everything our family has become. We already miss her deeply but know she is rejoicing with the Lord and all those who went before her.
Pallbearers include David Clark, Kenneth Campbell, Scott Timmons, Cole Ramsey, Branden Hawk, James Bell and Marte Bailey.
We would like to express our sincerest appreciation for the staff of Hillside Medical Lodge for the love and care they gave our Mom the last few years.
