Cecilia Lucio Aviles, 85, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 2, 2018, Cole Funeral Home, McGregor, with interment to follow in McGregor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the funeral home. Food and fellowship will follow interment Friday, February 2, at Father’s House, 501 East Highway 84, McGregor, Texas.
Cecilia was born January 12, 1933 to Felipe and Josefina (Recon) Lucio in Gregory, Texas. She was a longtime resident of McGregor. She married the love of her life, Benjamin “Ben” Aviles, on October 4, 1952 and they celebrated 58 wonderful years together. Cecilia was a homemaker and enjoyed making quilts, for her family, and cooking for everyone.
Mrs. Aviles was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben; son, Daniel Aviles; daughter, Elma Aviles; brother, Elias Lucio; and sisters, Guadalupe Sanchez and Irene Abitua.
Survivors include her sons, Victor Aviles, of McGregor, Adam Aviles, of McGregor; daughters, Diana Zapata and husband, Jose, of McGregor, Virginia Salazar and husband, Carlos, of Hewitt, Angela Cruz, of Waco, and Tommie Estrada and husband, Steven, of McGregor; eighteen grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-children; brothers, Felipe Lucio, Jr., of Chicago, Illinois, Jessie Lucio, of San Juan, Texas, Juan Lucio, of San Juan, Texas; and sister Francisa Uvalle, of San Juan, Texas.
